On November 6-7, we held an event "Children Advocate", the ambition of which was to create a pool of children advocates.
The main topics of discussion were the importance of child participation in decision-making and dialogue with governmental institutions, as well as strengthening children's desire to be active and make sure that their voices are heard.
The two days were spent in a warm and friendly atmosphere, in which it was easy for the children to communicate with each other, participate in discussions and talk freely about their problems.
We shared with the girls and boys the Advocacy Strategy and Plan of Save the Children in Ukraine, based on which they, by working in groups, created a plan that will be implemented by the pool of Children Advocates during 2021-2022.
The event was held in cooperation with our partners - Avalyst and Istok.
Children from Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts who live near the demarcation line and take an active part in school safety committees had an opportunity to attend the event.
Children who already have experience in advocacy shared it, inspiring others with their example. Such experience includes the participation of children in the Round table at the Ministry of Education and Science, as well as in drafting the Children's Manifesto, which was presented at the 4th International Conference on the Safe Schools Declaration in Abuja.
The event was supported by the EU Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (ECHO) and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NMFA).
