One in every four children being robbed of their childhood, new report from Save the Children finds

One quarter of the world's children are being denied a childhood, a new report from Save the Children has revealed. The report includes a global index ranking the places where childhood is most and least threatened. 

Launched to coincide with International Children's Day, the Stolen Childhoods reporthas found that at least 700 million children—and possibly hundreds of millions more—have had the promise of a full childhood brought to an early end.

Micro-grants that make a macro difference: Save the Children supports small businesses in eastern Ukraine

When the conflict erupted in eastern Ukraine in 2014, thousands of people not only had to flee their homes, they also left behind their jobs and businesses. Being internally displaced and living in the conflict zone means a constant struggle to survive. In addition to shelling and unexploded ordinances which pose an everyday threat, there is the challenge of being accepted by a new community which often does not have the resources to support displaced families.

LIVING ON THE FRONTLINE: AVDIIVKA

Ongoing fighting in eastern Ukraine continues to disrupt the lives of the local populations. A recent escalation began on 29 January, damaging civilian infrastructure on both sides of the contact line. Avdiivka and surrounding villages were hardest hit, causing the displacement of 235 people – more than half of them children.
